I built simprob because I needed it myself. I am on probation, and I kept forgetting to call the daily UA testing hotline. More than once, I woke up the next morning in a panic, called my PO, and had to explain that I had forgotten. More than once is enough. So I wrote a service that places the call to the hotline for me, presses the right menu option, records the announcement of the day’s assigned color, transcribes it, and sends the recording and transcript to my phone and email. I can be forgetful. I needed one less thing to carry in my head every day.
Since using it, I have slept better because placing that daily call is no longer on my list. The service does what I built it to do: it calls the UA testing hotline every day and sends me the recording and transcript so I can see whether my color was called. Then it hit me that I probably was not the only person who needed this. Everyone forgets, and on probation, forgetting to place the daily hotline call means you may not learn that you were required to submit a UA that day. A required UA you do not submit is a missed UA. A missed UA is a dirty UA. A dirty UA is a violation. Your PO does not get to simply ignore it. Judges do not care that you forgot to call. simprob handles one specific piece of the day — placing the hotline call and delivering the recording — so that piece is not the reason you missed a UA.
